English as a Second Language

Educational Services conducts an initial assessment of the client using the ESL/Adult Literacy Scale to determine the client’s knowledge of the English language and to assist in the development of a personalized action plan for the improvement of communicative competence in English.

In an effort to keep the case managers and clients up-to-date on individual progress, Educational Services provides a standard monthly progress report which includes instructor’s comments, feedback, and unit test results.

These reports reflect the student’s progress in accordance with the Canadian Language Benchmarks (Levels 1 through 12) and include a separate section covering general aspects of their English upgrading program.
