GED Prep Course

This is a twenty week program exclusively designed to prepare students to write the official GED examination. However, individual programs are available subject to the results of the GED Practice Examinations. The average time frame for completion of this program is 4 to 20 weeks dependent on the individual’s skill level and dedication.

The GED Prep Course is being offered on a 3hr/day – 5days/wk schedule and includes mandatory homework assignments.

The prerequisite for this program is a minimum grade 8 level of proficiency in math and English.  (Preliminary academic upgrading is available, on site, if required to meet this prerequisite)

Week 1:  Assessment & Orientation
Weeks 2 – 4:  Language Arts, Writing
Weeks 5 – 7:  Language Arts, Reading
Weeks 8 – 10:  Social Studies
Weeks 11 – 13:  Science
Weeks 14 – 19:  Mathematics
Week 20:  Practice Testing

Upon completion of each unit formal testing will be conducted and results, if required, will be forwarded to the case manager for progress monitoring.

Essay Writing Program

This is a four week program which is designed to prepare students for college level essay writing.

Grading is based on final essay submitted within a week following the end of the program.

Office Administration

Educational Services, in an effort to meet the needs of our clients, is offering an Office Administration Program at 2 levels – Basic and Advanced.

The Basic Program:
30 weeks

Course Prerequisite: Grade 10 Equivalency

Course Aim: To prepare individuals for employment in an office environment.

The Advanced Program includes in-depth accounting, and Microsoft Office Specialist Certification in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Auto Parts Specialist Program

This program requires 120 hours of classroom instruction – available in four to six hour days – and is continuous intake. It is designed to prepare students for employment in the auto industry. Subjects include: customer service, parts inventory, parts counter, and delivery. 6 – 8 week monitored co-ops are also available.

Cost: Program – $3,000.00 + GST
Co-Op Monitoring Fee – $25.00 per week + GST

Job Search Program

Includes:

In this four week program, all the tools and techniques of a successful job search are covered – from identifying skills and attributes, to marketing and networking those skills, plus all the components crucial to seeking, finding and keeping a job. This program is the bridge to becoming gainfully employed.

Clients will learn how to package themselves for success by looking good, feeling good, and sounding good. Having the right tools and using the proper techniques are key elements to surviving in today’s competitive job market.

(In addition to the Job Search Program, Educational Services will arrange a relevant 6 – 8 week co-op placement for clients requiring “on-the-job” experience.)

Customer Service Program

This eight week program focuses on developing Customer Service Skills from the employer’s point of view. Everything is covered in this program from effectively communicating with customers in a manner that will enhance customer relations to building on that communication to meet the customers’ needs efficiently.

Participants then move onto the additional components of the program covering:

  • Customer pitfalls
  • Dealing with customer complaints
  • Customer conflicts
  • Ethical behaviorv
  • Costs involved in losing a customer

Students will develop sound customer service strategies in working as part of a customer service team, practice, apply and develop sound customer service skills through case studies, lectures, completing exercises and tasks, and role play.

Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC3)

The Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC3) provides both students and job seekers with the foundation of knowledge needed to succeed in environments that require the use of computers and the Internet. The Global Standard 3 is an internationally recognized standard for digital literacy and reflects the most relevant skills for school and business today.

IC3 Certification Exams – Internet and Computing Core Certification requires successful completion of the following 3 components:

Living Online:

Covers skills for working in an Internet or networked environment.

Covers popular word processing, spreadsheet and presentation applications and the common features of all applications.

Computing Fundamentals:

Covers a foundational understanding of computing.

Instruction

Due to small class sizes and student’s varying experience and knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office software, Educational Services offers continuous intake and flexible class schedules to accommodate our students’ diverse needs. As such, we offer all of our computer courses on a time-block basis of 18 hours of instruction for $180 (plus applicable taxes) to be used within regular hours of operation at the discretion of the school and student.

Practice Examinations

Educational Services administers IC3 practice examinations for students enrolled in our programs as well as outside clients who have completed the course independently and wish to test their abilities prior to attempting the official examinations.

Individual Practice Exams – $40.00 plus applicable taxes *
Complete IC3 Practice Exams (includes all 3 components) – $104.00 plus applicable taxes *

Certification Exams

In order to achieve Internet and Core Fundamentals (IC3) Certification, the candidate must successfully complete all 3 exams.

IC3 certification includes 3 exams (Living Online, Key Applications, and Computing Fundamentals), each sold separately.
IC3 Exam including one retake $68.00 each plus applicable taxes *
IC3 Exam without retake $58.00 each plus applicable taxes *

All practice tests and certification exams include a fee of $25 for proctoring and must be pre-booked 48 hours in advance. Those candidates that purchase their own exam vouchers and simply require the use of certified testing facility and proctoring are required only to pay $25 (plus applicable taxes) and must schedule their exam 48 hours in advance.

Support Tutoring

Ongoing support tutoring is available above and beyond the standard academic programs for students requiring additional help/assistance in many subject matters.

Credit Courses

Introduction

Support tutoring designed to assist clients in the completion of credit courses obtained through the Independent Learning Centre (ILC).

Prerequisite(s)

Client must be enrolled in a distance education course provided by the Independent Learning Centre (ILC). Individual course prerequisites are determined by the Ontario Ministry of Education.

(Note: All credits earned through ILC are the same as those earned at any high school in Ontario. Every ILC course meets the requirements of the Ontario Ministry of Education)

Aim

Our qualified staff will provide students with the academic support and assistance needed to successfully earn Ministry of Education high school diploma credits.

This Program would be of Interest to those who want to complete individual courses needed to earn Ontario Secondary School Diploma.

Course Breakdown

Courses are available through the Independent Learning Centre (ILC) which provides a wide range of distance education courses for those who want to earn Ministry of Education high school diploma credits. Educational Services offers flexible support tutoring (Monday to Friday) to assist individuals with any difficulties with course material.

It is plausible to successfully complete a credit in 10 weeks. However, as it is self directed, the completion of a course is based on the individual’s time available, dedication, and motivation.

Orientation to Training

This is a one week workshop for  clients “Returning to School” .

Adapting to a classroom environment can be an overwhelming experience for some. This workshop was designed, developed and is delivered to motivate, stimulate and activate new clients who need to move forward toward success.

It covers all the bases a learner needs to succeed and continue to move in an upward spiral while in a school setting.

This workshop can be included in all programs offered by Educational Services, or may be offered separately.
